[1] the parish registers of Forest Hill are missing 1680-1702; it is a speculation that John married Martha and baptised sons John and Thomas during this deficient period

[2] tree T7 shows the descendants of Thomas SOANES; he may be the Thomas C1723 son of John & Mary in generation 7 or may be the Thomas C1736 son of Joseph in generation 8

[3] known FH descendants of Benjamin & Jane are: Mary (b1750, C1754) Ann (B1754) Ann (C1755) Elizth (CB1759) Elizth (C1762)

[4] it is most likely that the William who married Miriam was the son of John & Mary; however the possibility that he was the son of William & Mary (C1742/3FH) or of Joseph (C1741FH) cannot be ruled out; one of these probably m Mary HERITAGE at Stanton St John 13May1779

[5] Martha SOANES was the daughter of Samuel & Mary SOANES (see tree T6)

[6] Sarah SOANES was probably the daughter of Samuel & Mary SOANES (see tree T6)

[7] data from 1861 and 1871 census
